Things to do in Mataram City:
Shopping at the best prices ‘without bartering!’
Mataram mall, buy at prices the locals, we have cloth our family up here every year and it pretty much pays for our holiday, you can find everything with all the original brands, lots of neat gift ideas and for me a Coffee Latte. The surrounding shops are also good and you
Self Defense & Martial Art: Twice weekly at the local kings temple (Saturdays & Wednesdays)
Enquire about Private 1, 2, 3 day & 6 day training & historic
Join the Five Thousands on the Sunday Bike Ride, this is amazing and a yet to be discovered activity by lonely planet. They local government closes the roads from 6 am to 12 am and thousands of people start cycling the city, our family loved it, the city is flat but it seems that it was slightly down hill all the way. Eka’s 17yr old son has a bike rental service and guides. We chose the collectors bikes which have now become quite fashionable & valuable. Cost is about $15 pp with family prices if you ask.
Walk around the original town & Old Coastal port of ….. the people are poor here but very friendly, its a lovely walk but there is often plastic here so don’t get upset – they are not, in the morning they have a big sweep up and Eka and others are working on bins & better rubbish collections.
Visit The Local Museum 5 min/$4 taxi from the hotel and $2 entrance fee.
There is lots on offer – will update more soon …
