“Small groups of backpackers have recently discovered our place, teaching poor kids to swim & singing to the early hours with the locals.Th interaction has been so much fun for all & from traveller suggestions, the 8 Bungalows are being refitted out with Air Conditioning, hot showers, TV, internet & even western toilets.” For the first time in 270 years this ancient central city spring invites opens its arms to International Backpackers who seek to socialise in a true Indonesian way. P.S While every body at Sayung is looking forward to hosting travelers, we realise that in some areas we have lots to learn, for people who seek a ‘Sheraton’ type stay then that is not us and we are more suited to travelling Backpackers.

Poor kids swimming poolsSet up by the Royal Family some 270 years ago this sacred spring area has been a resting, bathing & socialising place for Kings, Armies & Travellers. Very recently small groups of backpackers have discovered this unique place, teaching poor kids to swim & singing to the early hours with the locals.
Check out our ‘Poor Kids Water Park Video The interaction has been so much fun for all that for the first time in 270 years our ancient central city spring now opens its arms to International Backpackers who seek to socialise in a true Indonesian way.
Only two years ago these ‘drinking water quality’ springs were covered by a rubbish tip. Since then owners Ekadana & wife Onny have converted the rubbish tip into free swimming playground for poor kids. The kids come after school having the best of fun and are now learning to swim. Today the site now also hosts a 8 bungalow hotel, restaurant, drinking quality spring water pools & by night it becomes the cities most popular nightspot with music, Saturday bands & lots of singing. A ‘Water Park for the Poor Kids’ has just been built and funded by Owner & Amnesty Awarded ‘Ekadana’ & wife Onny. A ‘drinking water filler station’ to give villagers too poor to buy water, is being drilled as I write.
